In the past few months we’ve been working on a new ad format, and now that we’ve successfully developed it, it’s time to share it. Introducing Zero Latency Web View by Intowow SDK.

Generally, in order to display web view ads, specific pieces of Javascript code need to be inserted  into the browser (html) to generate image or video tags, and the browser can then retrieve the creative from the designated server and display the ads. The main drawback of this method is that the browser must make multiple requests in order to completely download the advertising materials, which can take a long while. Slow or unreliable internet connections can compound the problem from a UX perspective. For instance, when an ad is not fetched quickly enough, the user is likely to encounter a blank ad placement in the app, which may appear as a black box or perhaps the dreaded pinwheel.

Previously, many publishers saw reverting to image ads as the only solution to this issue. While this approach does avoid the loading time problem, ad revenue takes a significant hit when serving display ads in place of video ads.

Now, we can help publishers solve this problem via a new SDK function. Intowow SDK can interact with browser to not only preload the advertising materials, but also to fetch the advertising materials directly, even in HD. This reduces load times and cuts down on unnecessary browser http requests for ads. By alleviating load time concerns we’re enabling publishers to serve the high-value video ads they prefer without headache of missed impressions.
